Question:Is it permissible for a person to give recommended charity to his poor father, whether the son is financially able to support his father or not?

Answer:In the name of Allah, fear Allah, my son. It is obligatory upon the child to spend on his parents just as it is obligatory to spend on his children. Therefore, it is not valid for him to give charity to either of his parents. Allah knows best.

Question:Is it valid to give recommended charity (ṣadaqah mandūbah) to a wealthy person, to someone of differing belief, or to a non-hostile disbeliever?

Answer:In the name of Allah, one must search for a needy Shia in the East and West of the earth. If you cannot find one, then hand it over to the legitimate religious authority and put yourself at ease. Allah is the Guide and He knows best.

Question:Is it permissible for me to withhold giving charity to someone if I know that they do not need it? And is it disliked to refuse them even if I know they do not need the charity?

Answer:In the name of Allah, it is not a condition for giving charity that the recipient must be in need. However, if what you have is a voluntary charity (sadaqah) and you intend to give it to a specific person in need, then it is better to prefer the one in need over others. Allah is the Guide.

Question:1.Is reaching the age of maturity and having the intention a requirement for the giver of charity? 2.Is it permissible to retract a donation?

Answer: 1: In the name of Allah, if the giver can distinguish between righteous and corrupt deeds and is the owner of what they give in charity, then their act of giving is valid, unless their guardian prevents them for their own benefit. Allah knows best. 2: In the name of Allah, if the charity is given to a relative, it is not permissible to retract it. However, if it is given to someone other than a relative, as long as the specific amount or object of the charity remains intact and the giver has not disposed of it, it is permissible to retract. Allah knows best.

Question:I always do charitable things like digging wells, building mosques, reciting the entire Quran, Haj and Umrah. I always put the name of my cousin on these charitable deed. Is it permissible?

Answer:In the name of Allah, if you mean that your cousin is to get rewards out of what you do, this would be a good deed for you. We pray to Allah that it is accepted and grant your cousin more and more rewards. If you mean to get blessed with by putting her name, it is also permissible. Allah is the Guide and Knowing.
