Question:A believing sister who suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder during ablution in such a way that she repeats the ablution with prayer many times until she reaches the point of fatigue – sometimes. Some fortunetelling women told her that this is the touch of a demon, and her remedy is to visit Syed Ali ibin Al-Hussein in the city of Al-Mahaweel at certain times. What is her religious ruling in ablution? Is what the women said true? What is your advice to her, noting that she has a high educational attainment?
Answer:In the name of Allah, the one who is afflicted with obsessive-compulsive disorder is obeying the devil if he is inclined to the disorder. To get rid of this disorder is to follow the orders of the religious authority after making sure of that the religious authority is qualified. Should you doubt the purity of something, you may follow the ruling od the religious authority. You will never get rid of the obsessive- compulsive, if you are still questioning. Do not depend on the fortunetelling women. The Quranic verse prohibits this, as in "fortunetelling women casting spells by blowing onto knots".
Question:After my marriage, half a year later, my mother-in-law and sister got married and after their marriage a few days later I got depressed and I suffered a lot. I decided to get rid of it through involving in education. However, at the end of my pregnancy and even after delivery about a year and a half, I got more depression and the obsession of cleanliness and impureness when entering the bathroom; I consider any drop of water I have or feel when I go to toilet or wash my hands impure, and as a consequence I wash half of my body often. Sometimes, I have a full washing. Furthermore, my face is oily and I have zits due to the effect of depression that I recently have started to wash it with soap more than once until I remove the oily substance, a matter that takes much time from me. In case I have to wash, I will spend more than an hour in washing; washing my hands so much that it cracked and hurt. All these things caused me a lot of psychological damage. I had nervousness, stress and negligence in my religious and family duties. I hate going out for a walk or for religious and social occasions and I hate to take care of my child I considered her to be the reason for this. Since I got pregnant with her, I have had a feeling of not loving her. I tried to avoid the topic of hygiene but I am very afraid that I am doing the wrong thing. Sometimes, I cannot control my nervousness and I am afraid that Allah will not respond to my supplication. I have done things to reduce this subject and I get a little better but after a while I cannot control myself and return to the starting point. I see I want to go back to what I was without thinking about these topics. My psyche is very tired, the natural person does not think all day about these topics?
Answer:In the name of Allah, if the obsessiveness is in the matter of religious purity and impurity, be advised, my daughter, that the one who cares in the aforementioned obsessiveness, s/he obeys Satan, and you have to abide by the fatwa of those religious authorities who you follow after making sure of taqleed. If you mean obsessive illusions and fantasies, then be advised, my daughter, that this way of obsessiveness is due to weakness of mind, and the weakness of the power of will. So you have to be strong in the face of these illusions. I advise you to read 100 verses from the Qur'an every night before going to bed and to say "There is no power but and no resort but to the Almighty Allah". Allah is the All Helper.
Question:A faithful sister who suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder in ablution, especially as she repeats ablutions with prayer many times until she reaches the point of exhaustion - sometimes - some of the female omen-teller told her that this is a demon's whispering, and her treatment is to visit Sayed Ali bin Al-Hussein in the city of Mahweel at certain times. What is her legitimate ruling on ablution? Is what the omen-teller said is true? What's your advice to her? Notifying that she is of high educational achievement.
Answer:In the name of Allah, the one who is afflicted with obsessiveness obeys Satan, if he is attracted to obsessiveness. To get rid of this obsession is to follow the opinion of the religious authority who you are in Taqleed, ensuring that the conditions of religious authority are met. If you doubt the purity of something or its impureness, then apply the fatwa of the Mujtahid. If you're not convinced, you'll never get rid of obsessiveness. Your commitment to the fatwa of your religious authority is the medication for getting rid of obsessive-compulsive and it appears from the holy verse (the witches who blow practicing witchcraft in garment) that it is not permissible to rely on their statements. The verse prevents them from resorting to them as well. Allah is the all guide
Question:A question from a girl who is being treated in psychiatry about prayer because she does not stay praying for a while as she is very suspicious of everything and has compulsive obsessive disorder is very intense according to the doctor to the extent that if she is just to enter the bathroom, she will be excessively tired. Getting a shower, on the other hand, it will be another calamity i.e. she is stressed a lot and more often strained until the blood comes out so it is difficult for her, and she cannot wash out of the menstrual washing because of all this obsession. Previously, her mother used to help her in everything and it is not done without problems, she said that she tired her mother a lot, in that her mother was fed up with her. Recently, she depends on herself to enter the bathroom but as I said earlier she cannot pray because of washing and all this obsessive compulsive disorder and since the menses comes in a few days i.e. less than a month at a time so she cannot wash because of obsessive compulsive disorder and so she misses praying. What should she do, taking into account that the scholars say that the solution is not to pay attention to obsessiveness, but this does not work with her either, they tried a lot not to pay attention, but they ended up in psychiatry and they know that prayer is the pillar of religion, but in her case what should she do?
Answer:In the name of Allah Almighty, Imams (PBUH) advised that one who is afflicted with obsession should abide by the Islamic law and not to turn to obsessiveness. If they are believers, as the question is supposed to be, they must abide by the judgment of the imams (PBUH) and you must know that obsessive is obedience to the devil and not obedience to Allah, the Merciful. Whoever obeys the devil goes to Hell with him. We seek Allah’s refuge from this. Allah is the Guide.
